This light, spacious, inviting kitchen and family room was created from two formerly dark rooms, plus a side extension. Putting all those areas together also allowed the entrance hallway to be enlarged, and a cloakroom to be installed, completely transforming daily life for this family. This is now a large, welcoming space which leads directly onto the paved garden, allowing all the space to be used fully. The kitchen is also fully of clever storage, ensuring that everything has a place and is within easy reach. The worksurface was also more than doubled by having the peninsula dividing the cooking and eating areas. The pendants and wall lights are both decorative and functional, and what once was a dark and unweildy space becomes bright and airy. Using several colours on the units adds depth and defines the room without the need for walls.
